We stock mens, womens, youth & kids jackets in lots of colours, sizes & styles. Whether you’re new to the snow or a seasoned pro, you’re guaranteed to find something you’ll love.

What kind of jacket is best for skiing?

Ski jackets come in lots of different styles; puffer, anorak, soft shell and many more. The best jacket for you will be down to personal preference and what you’re planning to get up to in the snow.

For example, if you’re cross-country skiing, a shell jacket would be a good option as it’s lightweight and breathable.

If you’re a beginner, however, you’ll want something practical yet stylish. You’ll also probably be looking to spend a little less, given that you’re new to the slopes, so we’d recommend a traditional zip-up jacket with plenty of pockets for your lift pass and essentials.

The most important piece of advice from our team is to make sure that your jacket is warm & waterproof - you can always take layers off, but you don’t want to get wet and cold on the mountain.

Are ski & snowboard jackets different?

Ski jackets can usually be worn by snowboarders and vice versa but there may be slight differences which better suit a skier or snowboarder. For example, snowboard jackets are often a little longer to cover your butt for an extra bit of protection and to make sure you don’t get wet while strapping your board on. By contrast, ski jackets are typically a little more fitted since you don’t need to move your body quite as much.

Do I need to buy a bigger size of ski jacket?

Depending on how many layers you want to put underneath your ski jacket, it may make sense to go one size up. You don’t want your ski jacket to be too tight or too loose otherwise it will make it harder for you to get the most out of your day.

The best thing to do is to check out the size chart for the jacket you want and, if possible, try on a few different sizes. We keep lots of coats in our store in Cooma so you can try them on and find your perfect size before you head up the hill!
