SHOULD I RENT OR BUY SKIS?
Renting skis is a helpful way to figure out if skiing is for you. You might be new to the snow or have snowboarded in the past so renting allows you to try it out without committing to purchasing all of the gear.
Â
Renting skis is also a great way to try out new models and find skis that suit you. At Rhythm we offer a try-before-you-buy option where you can take out our demo skis to see if you like them before buying a new pair. The first two days of rental is offset against the cost of your new skis too so it’s a win-win situation!
Â
As your skis depend on your height and weight (amongst other things), children often need to change skis every year as they grow. Buying new skis can become very costly so renting provides a more cost-effective alternative for children too.
IS IT CHEAPER TO RENT OR BUY SKIS?
If you only ski a few times a season, renting skis is likely to work out cheaper for you. It will also save you maintenance costs such as waxing and edging
If, however, you are an avid skier and head up the mountains several times throughout the season, you may prefer to buy skis. This will also save you some time heading up the mountain as you’ll already have your skis with you.
For the budget conscious you can enquire to see if any ex rental skis are available to purchase. We often sell off older model used demo skis with bindings for a fraction of the price.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RENT SKIS?
Our rental prices start from $25 for kids and $55 for adults. Check our rental pages page to find out more or book online here.
Renting your skis from our store in Cooma, near Jindabyne, often works out cheaper than renting up the mountain. We also stock a much larger range than the smaller mountain ski shops.
Â
What if there’s a problem with my rental skis?
All skis & snowboards are checked and serviced between uses so you can be confident of having a good ride. However, if you do have any issues, simply pop back to the shop and we’ll sort you out. We have a rental shop in Smiggins Hole as well as our main store in Cooma to make this process a little easier. To book ski rental directly in Smiggins please head to our Smiggins page.

CAN I HIRE DEMO SKIS?
Yes! We have a huge range of demo skis for those looking for a bit more performance or are looking to buy a new pair of skis but want to try-before-they-buy. We have specific demo ski packages that you can book online and collect in-store too.
Our demo ski range features a huge selection of the latest models from all of the top ski brands. If you’re looking to take out a specific model please let our friendly team know in advance and we’ll try to arrange this for you.
